Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
Electronic Data Interchange is the sharing of electronic business documents between business units or companies. It is a set a standards or formats by which data can be transmitted. It allows different companies using different applications to communicate by using the same format or data interchange.
Tesoro is working towards implementing Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) for our refinery MRO suppliers. EDI will be used by Tesoro to send electronic purchase orders, receive acknowledgements and invoice data from our suppliers.
Tesoro will be using four standard EDI document types for communicating with our suppliers:
• Purchase Order Create (850)
• Purchase Order Change (860)
• Acknowledgement (855) and
• Invoice (810)
