The Campbell Local Emergency Action Network (CLEAN) has been a key element of Tesoro’s Hawaii community outreach program since 1996. Since its inception, CLEAN has actively promoted the environmental welfare of Campbell Industrial Park and its surroundings. CLEAN is widely recognized in Hawaii as a highly effective non-government, not-for-profit organization that facilitates relationships among the industrial facilities in Campbell Industrial Park, including our refinery, the Honolulu Local Emergency Planning Committee, emergency response agencies and the surrounding community. Its achievements include:

• Community education programs

• Training and response efforts to protect employees

• Support of community organizations and the families they represent

• Environmental protection

• Emergency response exercises

• The enhancement of emergency warning systems

In addition, CLEAN distributes the Campbell Industrial Park Emergency Resources Guide annually at no cost to more than 250 area recipients. Local businesses, civic organizations, government agencies and local emergency response organizations voluntarily provide much of the information included in the guide, which continues to be a significant component in an improved management system for emergencies that may affect the community. CLEAN is a success story that exemplifies Tesoro’s commitment to protect the environment and look after our neighbors.
